Arts Program

The Festival's Arts Program offers arts and cultural participants the opportunity to contribute to sustainability.

Representing a wide spectrum of arts and cultural activities delivered by artists, organizations and creative communities, the Arts Program within the Sustainable Living Festival showcases a series of works, events and presentations that relate to the underlying ideas of the Festival theme: 'Get Ready for the Safe Climate Decade!'.

Artists will present at the Main Event at Federation Square (19-21 Feb 2010) - the heart of the 2 week Sustainable Living Festival. The venue is highly visible and attractive to locals and tourists alike, representing exposure to the arts that is unequalled in Melbourne.

The Arts Program engages with audiences across the entire Federation Square site, including the BMW Edge Gallery, the Plaza, main stage and large screen, with Festival events spilling out onto the Yarra Promenade to Birrarung Marr, ACMI and the NGV.

Featured events encompass all kinds of creative activities that engage with sustainability ideas, issues and practices:

• Contemporary art: New ideas and works generated by artists, craft artists, musicians, filmmakers and performers

• Community arts, cultural events and performances, demonstrations, talks presented by individuals and groups

• Arts and cultural events - presented by diverse cultural groups

• Education Day (19 Feb) events and activities, dedicated to schools and youth programming
